CSE-Engineering – The company


Specialists for Plant Safety & Security

CSE-Engineering is professional and highly specialized – a consultant for all questions concerning the safeguarding of process engineering processes. We are a competent service provider in the areas of plant safety and security.

Consultation, sizing, laboratory tests and investigations in terms of safety are just as much a part of our range of services as research and industry exchanges of experience. The CSE Academy as part of CSE-Engineering offers a wide range of training and continuing education.

We are active in almost all sectors: process industry, chemistry, pharmacy, power plant technology, food industry, oil and gas industry, but also for manufacturers of safety devices and operators of biogas or refrigerant plants.

Welcome to the Hummelberg

The CSE-Engineering Center of Safety Excellence GmbH is the economically active part of the CSE Center of Safety Excellence. Founded as a start-up company in June 2015, we are a competent service provider for industry and an attractive employer for young engineers.

In 2016, we spun off the service focus sizing & consulting with our subsidiary CSE-Engineering Services GmbH.

Both companies are managed by Prof. Dr. Jürgen Schmidt and Prof. Dr. Jens Denecke. The managing directors have decades of industrial experience in the field of process and plant safety, including as employees of Hoechst in Frankfurt and BASF SE in Ludwigshafen.

CSE-Engineering is located on the Hummelberg in Pfinztal near Karlsruhe, directly next to the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology (ICT).


Growth with safety

For our partners and customers, we develop individual, innovative solutions to ensure that processes and plants run economically and safely.

The sizing and consulting division covers a wide range of safety services: Whether a safety concept, valve sizing or laboratory measurements in the field of reaction calorimetry are required, we have the answer.

Digital services are our computer-aided solutions. These include the web-based sizing software CSE PROSaR as well as the topics functional safety (PCT technology) and security.

The type testing division stands for all kinds of flow measurements, for example, component tests on valves. We perform these tests on our unique high-pressure test facility.

Leadership is our constant training and the exchange of knowledge at the highest level. The CSE Academy offers continuing trainings on all core topics of safety engineering.

360° Plant Safety

The CSE Center of Safety Excellence is unique in the field of process and plant safety. Nowhere else in industry are research, development and safety technology so closely interlinked.

The CSE Institute motivates young students to internalise the typical safety mentality and to implement it in innovative projects within the framework of bachelor, master and PhD theses. CSE-Engineering benefits from this dynamic and the proximity to research. New methods and experimental results are tested and introduced in safety engineering and implemented in industrial practice. The state of technology is “moved”. CSE-Engineering passes this knowledge on – through services in the field of safety engineering and through exchanges of experience with industry.
